Calculation of optical parameters
for CO2 laser marking system

The laser marking has been widely used  because of clarity and long life of the laser marked patterns.  The marking quality depends on the optical parameters of  the system. This paper discusses the relationship among the  system parameters, such as energy density, image position, mask position, etc. The experimental results of the energy  density thresholds of some materials are listed. Those results  are useful for designing the optical system of a laser marking system.
