Air-cooled Laser VS Water-cooled Laser
Air-cooled laser: laser is cooled by the environment air (fan, fin, TEC etc.)
Water-cooled laser: laser is cooled by chiller, two tubes connect laser and chiller
(there are two types of chiller: air-cooled chiller and water cooled chiller, click here for the difference)
Comparison:
| Air-cooled laser | Water-cooled laser |
| Compact | Bulky, external chiller needed |
| Temperature cannot be lower than environment air temperature | Temperature can be lower than environment air temperature |
| Cooling performance is affected by air temperature | Cooling performance is slightly or not affected by air temperature |
| Cooling capacity is low | Cooling capacity is high |
| Dust problem | No dust problem |
| Noise | Can be quiet |
| Cost low | Cost high |
| For small power lasers | For high power lasers |
